The tour starts in Chiang Mai and takes you to Chiang Rai then Chiang Khong, we take you for a two day Mekong River cruise from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang. Our tour program from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang:
Day 1: Drive from Chiang Mai to Chiang Khong. This will take around 7 hours.
We will pick you up at your hotel in Chiang Mai at 9:00 am. The first stop after one and a half hours is at the Hot Springs. The second stop will be at the famous Wat Rong Kung (White Temple). This is also where we will have lunch in Chiang Rai. After this we will take you to your hotel in Chiang Khong, where you will spend the night.
Day 2: Boat trip from Chiang Khong to Pakbeng.
This will take around 7 hours. At about 7:30 am your guide will pick you up at your hotel to take you the Thai – Laos Friendship Bridge. At this point your Thai guide will bid you fair well, you will then take the shuttle bus across the bridge to Laos. The guide from Laos will pick you up after you have got your visa, and will take you to the Mekong River. Here the boat trip will start.
Day 3: Boat trip from Pakbeng to Luang Prabang.
This will take around 8 hours and departs at 8:00 am. The first stop is at Ban Baw, here you will see a traditional Lao village where they make rice whiskey, hand crafted items and weave textiles. After Ban Baw a buffet lunch will be surved aboard the boat. After lunch you continue down the Mekong to Pak Ou caves, at which point you will visit two caves (Tham Ting and Tham Phoun); these caves contain thousands of images of Buddha. The cruise arrives at Luang Prabang pier approximately an hour before sunset, from here you will be picked up by minibus and taken to your hotel.
